So, after 3 weeks of searching I was offered a job as the Marketing Manager for a Water Sports company selling Canoes and Kayaks. I work with a great bunch of people and My boss is even paying for me to take my Professional Diploma in Marketing. This has all re installed my confidence in UK employers. There are still employers out there who care about the happiness of their staff and want them to develop their skills!
The other day I was talking to a colleague who has been very successful since a young age by taking jobs no one else wanted to do and then becoming indispensable. I am always talking about how nice it would be to do something you enjoy and earn lots of money doing it. This led to a long discussion where I contemplating all the careers I've always thought I'd love and my colleague moaned at me a lot for putting barriers in my own way and never following any of them through. I have therefore decided that in my spare time I will try and become a freelance journalist as a tribute to my 9 year old self who dreamed of working for a newspaper especially as it is still something I dream of now now that I'm in my twenties.
I decided it was best not to attempt a tribute to my 5 year old self who dreamed of being a patchwork elephant... they can lock you up for that sort of behaviour!
